This activity starts from the city center of Guimarães going up the Penha Mountain, on a dedicated route, where you can admire the tranquility of the rural populations of the suburbs and the beginning of the vegetation that surrounds the city. After almost 4 km of beautiful landscapes, we will reach the top to get the most fantastic view of the city and surroundings. This is in fact the highest point at around 40 km and with a little luck and clear skies we will have a view over the Atlantic!
We will get to know the nooks and crannies of this rocky mountain, full of a contagious green, which is believed to have been first unveiled and occupied by a poor Hermit who sought shelter here, and later build the primitive access and subsistence infrastructures. We will visit the Nossa Senhora da Penha Sanctuary at the top of the mountain and discover some popular legends of this magical territory.
After this, we will also have the opportunity to visit a very old and original tavern deep in the mountain, before boarding the Cable Car to overcome the difference in level of about 450m towards the center of Guimarães again.
