Description:

The city of Braga is deeply linked to Christianity after the Roman Era, there are even records of a Conventus Bracarensis dating from the 1st century AD.After centuries of Christian conquests and reconquests, the Archdiocese had the most relevant restoration in 1070, at a time when it was regent of important dioceses such as Leão, Galicia, Porto, Coimbra, Lamego, Viseu...

From the devotion and countless faithful in the north/northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, the dowry of Count D. Henrique to the Archbishops of Braga (1112), legitimizes them as landlords and heirs of the city until the 18th century. It was the time of greatest financial growth and power of Christianity in Portugal, we can say. The construction of the beautiful Cathedral of Braga took shape, as well as other temples of devotion throughout the region, reaching its peak between the 16th and 18th centuries. This is also the remarkable period of the Baroque in Braga (a Portuguese city where it is certainly more evident). By the hand of architect André Soares, several facades, altarpieces, carvings, frescoes are designed... admirable works that can be admired from the city center to Bom Jesus do Monte or to other cities in the region such as Viana do Castelo.

Braga is commonly known among us as the City of Archbishops or Western Rome. The city's religious legacy is the focus of this tour, which offers a guided tour of what we call the Triangle of Faith:

Cathedral founded in the 11th century, an unavoidable monument in the city, of unrivaled beauty with one of the richest assets in the country. Visit to the temple, Chapter and Museum.

Bom Jesus do Monte - UNESCO World Heritage (2019) - with its imposing staircase of 581 steps (the ascent is optional) and surrounding area, which make this place one of the most magical in Braga.

Sanctuary of Sameiro, built in the 19th century, is the Marian temple of greater grandeur and mysticism in the region. It is also located at the highest level, offering a 360º view of the entire region.
