The city has his roots from the ancient roman empire, occupying a prominent place in this area of the Iberian peninsula. From the times it was designated as “Bracara Augusta”, the city is has grown to become the 3rd biggest in Portugal. Deeply connected to the catholic religion, is probably one of the most crowded in religious monuments.
Over the last millennium the city became the most important reference for the catholic religion. It served for headquarter of archbishops, and has (probably) the most beautiful cathedral in Portugal. Adding to the religiosity and coutless set of churches, the city has 2 sanctuaries on hill next to it - Bom Jesus do Monte and Sameiro, that together with the cathedral form the triangle of faith that we will discover.
This tour is oriented for the visit and detailed knowledge of these wonderful architectural works, landmarks of the Catholic religion in the region.
